Bruce Anderson

for Clawson City Council

Welcome!

In 1996 my wife and I moved our family to Clawson. We have found Clawson to be a great place to live. The Clawson motto “little city with the big heart” sounds corny when you first hear it - but it really is true. Our children have been educated in the Clawson Schools (K-12 for all three of them). The city services have been good. The city government has run smoothly and effectively. I saw no need to get directly involved with the city government – until now.

In the last two years, there has been significant disorder in the Clawson City government:

  • Four City Managers

  • Five City Clerks

  • A mayor who resigns, and then manages to make a “come back” 4 weeks later.

  • Widespread dissension among the city employees.

As a 25-year resident of Clawson, my family and I are heavily invested in the city. I am running for Clawson City Council to help restore order to the Clawson City government from the instability of the last two years.

As an engineer in the automotive industry for the last 33 years, I am familiar with problem solving both as an individual and in working as part of a team. I also have civil engineering training and experience, which should be useful in managing potential infrastructure projects in the city.

As a Candidate, These are my priorities:

1. Restore Order

Restore order in the Clawson City government. This would involve working with the council and the new mayor to stop the high turnover in the city manager and clerk positions. Also, widespread dissension among the city employees needs to be addressed.

2. Create Infrastructure

Address the infrastructure concerns of the city. Many of the roads and sewers in Clawson are aging and in need of repair and/or refurbishment. These projects need to carefully managed to avoid construction errors and cost overruns.

3. Marijuana Management

Management of the Marijuana Issue. There are currently 2 marijuana proposals on the Clawson ballot. If either one is approved by the voters, the implementation will have to be carefully managed due to the social and legal issues involved.

As a candidate for Clawson City Council,

I am asking for your vote on November 2nd.
